MAKING A SONG VS A BEAT | Illmind BLAP:CAM 058

I recently met with a group of aspiring music producers at an NYC studio, gave feedback on their music and answered a lot of great questions. The number one reason why people aren't getting placements is the simple fact that they're over producing and doing too much. That's the difference between a music producer and a beatmaker. It's having the right discipline to know what to leave in and what to take out to make room for the artist.

DON'T BE AFRAID OF REJECTION | Illmind BLAP:CAM 057

I recently went on IG live and answered many of your questions. We discussed how to set up your laptop for music production, what I like to store on my internal and external hard drive. What inspires me and what keeps me going. The importance of referencing your mixes. How self-help books, although they seem unrelated, can actually guide you in the music industry. And I give advice to a recent graduate on what steps to take next. The biggest thing is to put yourself out there and not be afraid of rejection.
