Mixing Lead Vocals
Mix Tutorial: Rap Vocals Part 1 of a 3 part series adressing common questions using proven techniques to have your audio sounding like the pros. Parts 2 & 3 will touch on things like parallel effects, reverb and delay.
In this video, Mateo talks about how to deal with overly breathy vocals, which is a common thing to produce when compressing vocals. This technique can be reproduced in just about any major DAW (Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, etc.).
You'll need the following;
- A DAW
- A recording of a vocal
- Compression on the vocal to bring out the breaths
- Automation enabled
