“Is this artist prepared to do a party song tonight? Or should he just talk about a chick, ’cause he’s all emotional,” says Swizz Beatz during his episode of #TheStudioInterview. “It’s different levels to it.”
To what, you ask? Producing. The somewhat lost art that Swizz Beatz, born Kasseem Dean, has specialized in since he was 20 years old dishing beats to Jay-Z and DMX. It isn’t just about pairing drums with snares or dancing in the back of the videos. It’s a curation process that’s earned the Yonkers native millions of dollars, more plaques than he can count on two hands, and a reputation that stretches across the seven seas. We’ll be reminded of that pedigree when his first new album in over a decade, ‘Poison’, drops this Friday.
The latest episode of #TheStudioInterview is out now.
