Roland Verselab MV-1 review from a hip hop producer’s prospective! It’s an all-in-one $700 MSRP drum sampler, sequencer, synth, & vocal recording standalone unit from Roland. It has eight tracks, multiple effects, tons ofpresets (using the Zen Cores engine!), & tons of drums. You can import your own drums too via SD card or thru the utility options (storage mode). The biggest up side is the built-in mic. It’s not the best quality but it’s usable! However, it has an XLR port on the back & phantom power (if you plug it up to a power outlet). You can make it portable via battery pack but you’ll lose phantom power (and less lighting on the pads). I noticed there’s no undo button or a click track when recording (though you could do your hi hats first to solve that). Samplings a bit “meh” in comparisons to other existing machine but it’s “do-able”. Overall, it’s an above average experience that gets better with time. Let me know how you feel about this review in the comments! 80/100 stamp of approval!
