In this Piano Week special, Paul Thomson takes a simple, fragile motif and builds it out into a full cinematic cue, layering texture, orchestration and sound design along the way.
Using a combination of Originals Firewood Piano and the softest dynamics of the Hans Zimmer Piano, the piece begins in a very intimate space, close, detailed, and human. From there, it gradually expands, building into something epic.
Rather than aiming for perfection, Paul leans into performance, leaving parts unquantised to keep the track breathing and alive. It’s a process focused on feel, momentum, and holding onto the original idea as it evolves.
The Spitfire Audio Piano Week Sale is now live, with up to 40% off a selection of piano and keys libraries, plus a range of piano-led bundles.
