One cloudy afternoon in L.A., Ron-Ron The Producer pulled up to Amoeba Records, removed his eyeglasses, and tied a black T-shirt over his face. He then proceeded to pull three random records—by The Pasadenas, Herbie Hancock, and Eyes and Arms of Smoke. Safe to say these sounds were something of a departure for the producer who’s made his name with L.A. rappers like 03 Greedo, Shoreline Mafia, and Drakeo The Ruler. “On to the psychedelic sh*t,” Ron Ron stated as he dropped the needle on Herbie Hancock’s ‘The Headhunter.’ He also got pretty excited when he pulled out the Eyes and Ears of Smoke disc and saw it was clear vinyl, although the group’s experimental folk sounds proved something of a challenge. Rising to the challenge of this eclectic assortment of sounds, Ron-Ron fashioned some hard-ass beats and then blazed a fat joint. Check out the latest episode of Rhythm Roulette right now.
