Asterix Aka Sueño 1(Born in San Gil Colombia) , is a Los Angeles based record producer and performer. Asterix operates and produces for Firehouse Sound Labs in Carson CA.
Asterix has contributed to many projects including tracks feat Lil Scrappy, Mistah Fab, MC Eiht, Tash, Styliztik Jones, Planet Asia, Tristate and 2Mex. His first record appearances came in 1996 as a member of hip hop group Western Union. in 2000 Asterix released a 12" maxi single titled "Lookout" alongside rappers L.O.R.D, Ammo 1 and Gunnie Sanotchra under the group name Dojo Pros.
Asterix was the 2002 Beat Olympics Champion beating out producer Kankick in the final round of the competition. Asterix returned to the beat battle circuit in 2009 and was a 3 time beat down champ as well as the Sam Ash Beat Knock champ. In 2009 he contributed to the Fresh Boyz Jerk or Die compilation producing the single "All I need is bass" for Yung Japan and co-releasing the project under the Firehouse Sound labs label, the project has since been re-released under The "Shot Records" stamp.
In 2010 Asterix released an album titled "Firehouse Muzik Vol 1" featuring some of his work dating back to the 90's, Asterix also released a compilation titled "Failure is not and Option" in 2010 featuring Heltah Skeltah, Planet Asia, 2Mex, Stiliztik Jones amongst others. In 2011 Asterix released a compilation titled "Follow The Leaders" under the Firehouse Sound Labs label. The compilation features Crooked I, Inspectah Deck, Prince Po, Cappadonna and Big Noyd amongst others. Asterix is best known for his energetic beats and monstrous drum sequences as well as his use of obscure samples and sound effects. His versatility and unmatched work ethic has made him a hot commodity in the re-emerging Los Ageles hip hop scene. His influences are quoted as being The late Issac Hayes, Quincy Jones, Barry White as well as Hip Hop Producers The Beatnuts, Ant Banks, D.I.T.C. and Dr. Dre . Aside from performing, mixing, mastering and production Asterix also customizes and repairs studio equipment and electronics, his custom designs can be found in recording studios around the globe.
