I talk with “Fats,” the CEO of Coast2Coast Mixtapes and he shares both his method of email marketing and advice to independent artists looking to build fan lists.
Major points to consider:
1. Don’t steal e-mail addresses. Your true fans will opt-in (give you their email addresses willingly) to your email list.
2. Collect fan data on your website, when you perform at shows, etc.
3.Fans must be earned– give them something in return for opting into your email blast list.
4. First impressions can’t be erased.
