Before You Buy a New Keyboard, Do THIS! (Korg Gadget + Akai MPC Workflow)

In this video I will discuss how to hook up the MPC One to the iPad. This is my 2025 workflow using the iPad as a MIDI sound module with the Akai MPC One. My Akai MPC One serves as the main sequencer in this demonstration, providing midi signal to my iPad Pro. The iPad Pro is using Korg Gadget software for sounds and instruments, routed through a Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 interface for audio and MIDI.

Korg Gadget is an incredibly stable set of virtual instruments available on Mac/PC and iOS. If you’re a keyboard enthusiast as myself, I would consider Korg Gadget a no brainer.

This setup is a powerful workflow for Akai MPC One users looking for ways to expand their access to sounds while using the powerful MPC sequencer.

I will show you my audio, MIDI, USB and application settings used in my studio to achieve this workflow. I will also make recommendations on adapters, audio interfaces and other tools necessary to make this setup work. Whether you use the Akai MPC or the Native Instruments Maschine platform, this video will help you to be prepared to explore the creative possibilities of using an ipad as a MIDI Sound Module in a hardware sequencer based setup.
