Made from chromatically tuned glass rods, played by rubbing them with wet fingertips, the instrument produces an ethereal, organic-yet-alien tone, sitting somewhere between glass, breath, and pitch. Ideal for sci-fi, horror, ambient writing, and cinematic sound design.
Previously available only with Kontakt Full, Crystal Keys now runs natively in our INSTRUMENT plugin. The library contains both the raw acoustic instrument and a series of new Warps – patches that transform its delicate resonance into everything from angelic, glistening textures to frightening, horror-like atmospheres.
The acoustic instrument is recorded with three signals, Close, Room, and Ribbon, while each Warp carries its own bespoke set of three: Direct, Bright, and Cinematic, as well controls for Chorus and Distortion.
Jack explores both sides of the instrument, acoustic and warped, shaping the sound through built-in effects, envelope controls, tuning, and reverb. From starry, bell-like detail to submerged lows and horror-film tension, Crystal Keys offers instant character from an extremely rare, coveted instrument.
