Purps’s other credits include work with Jamie Foxx, Waka Flocka Flame, 2 Chainz, as well as French Montana, and he has also created in rock and dance styles. While he may be best known for his unique “California trap” sound, he continues to push boundaries and evolve, going beyond the typical dimensions of hip hop.

We hung out with Purps in Los Angeles while he was working on some new material. He told us, “You’ve got to to love what you are doing. You can’t make music if you don’t feel it in your heart. You have to find that balance of it being hard work but not thinking of it as hard work.”

Nathaniel Caserta aka Purps is a multi-genre music producer from Los Angeles. Purps started his production when he received his first guitar lesson. Within a few months he decided to stop the lessons and teach himself the art of songwriting. Doing many projects with local bands and musicians in high school, experimenting with 4-track tape and digital recorders, he developed his musical progress but none of it was taking too seriously. Once Purps was introduced to recording at home on a computer, things started to become more serious. Creating a few instrumentals and placing them on a website called soundclick.com resulted in his first beat sale. Seeing the potential, purps started building a catalog and fan-base. The soundclick website Reached over a million views and 3 million plays in one year. In 2008 Purps met Robert Sarzo for Sarzo Management through an artist they were both working with. Quickly building a great musical bond, they formed a production team. During the summer of 2009, The team worked on scoring music for a wide release horror movie called "The Collector". The movie was released July 31 in threaters throughout the US. In 2010, Purps began submitting beats to local Los Angeles artists. Purps landed a placement with New Boyz on their second album "Too Cool To Care", also producing a track on Legacy's(of the New Boyz) mixtape "Your New Favorite Rapper" called "Last Time", which sampled "What Is Love" by Haddaway. Purps sampled the song a year before Eminem and Lil Wayne released their version on Eminem's album, "Recovery". Purps teamed up with other producers, and produced a roster of songs for artists including, Mistah Fab, Crooked I, Keak The Sneak, and many more. During Summer of 2010, Purps linked up with Waka Flocka Flame, when he was in Hollywood, and produced "Homies" for his debut album Flockaveli. Purps had made chemistry with Waka Flocka, so he him them to Atlanta. While in Atlanta Purps networked and worked with producers Lex Luger and Southside of Mizay Entertainment. While waiting in an Atlanta hotel room to get picked up for a studio session, Purps made the instrumental for Waka Flocka's song "Pole". The song was the first single on his "Salute Me Or Shoot Me" mixtape series. Also he produced the second and fan-picked single " Bill Russell". He is currently producing many projects for Bricksquad artists including, Gucci Mane, French Montana, New Boyz, Tyga, YC, 2Chains, JBar, Kid Ink, Ty$, . Killa Kyleon, Short Dawg, , Mack Maine, and other various artists. So expect the worldwide takeover of PURPS PRODUCTIONS. http://twitter.com/ItsPURPS http://www.itspurps.com http://www.reverbnation.com/purpsbeats http://www.facebook.com/itsPurps http://www.youtube.com/user/lilpurps
