Step inside Count Labs — The Kount’s personal studio and creative home base — for a deep dive into the gear, workflow, and philosophy behind his sound.
In this tour, The Kount walks through his collection of vintage and modern synths (including a beloved Minimoog and Juno), a vintage Japanese electronic bongo machine, the Maestro Rhythm King drum machine, and an arsenal of effects — phasers, space echo, vinyl sim, and more — that shape his signature warm, textured beats. He also breaks down his love of recording live percussion, his Tascam Porta Studio cassette setup (used on a sample pack he made with Kiefer), and the out-of-tune Craigslist piano that’s become a studio favorite.
The Kount also shares advice for producers dreaming of their own studio setup: master your craft in your bedroom first before investing in more space or gear.
