On this episode, I talk about how I started out in my mom’s basement (0:30). Dropped out of school and all I did was make beats everyday. I talk about moving to different cities like LA or ATL to pursue music and have higher chances of running into industry people (1:10). I talk about my first big break as a producer, working with G-Unit and linking up with Sha Money XL (2:18). That led me to get more placements, sign a publishing deal and eventually ended up working with Kanye and Travis Scott in 2012 (3:53). I’ve had many collaborations this past year and I explain the process of how some of those came to be (4:10). I give advice on keeping the beats simple and not overproducing, which is the key to getting placements (4:38). I encourage producers to keep going because there’s no such thing as something being “wack” (07:26). Music is subjective and if you can get one person to like your music, that’s enough. Lots more gems in between. You don’t wanna miss this one.
