Teenage Engineering had two forthcoming products to show off at NAMM 2017: its tiny PO-32 Tonic drum machine and the OP-Z, a “video synth” that generates visuals as well as sound.
The OP-Z was on display at NAMM 2016 in prototype form, but this year Teenage Engineering was able to show more of the synth’s unique features, including its tape looper and graphics sequencing capabilities.
FACT spoke to OP-Z lead software engineer Jonas Åberg at NAMM to find out more and get a better look at what promises to be even more popular than its portable OP-1 synthesizer.
