Oi, Grandad! is a 4 voice granular synthesizer built with HISE. It has the ability to load 4 one shots (and time stretch loops) and create a new palette of sounds with no effort. Granular sampler plugins have always intrigued me. Especially, when they are done right!
However, like all free VST plugins it has some caveats. Sad news for MPC software users. It’s only in VST3 format but there’s plugin wrappers that can make it work. I experienced some weird crash bugs and it’s a bit CPU intensive (I have an 9th generation i7 laptop with Windows 11. I dislike Windows 11 and don’t recommend upgrading at all!). Also, there’s some know issues for MacOSX Logic Pro X users (who didn’t see that coming?). I’m sure it will be ironed out in the future. Oi, Grandad is open sourced. So, you can tinker with the scripts.
